Humboldt Veterinary Technician Association

HVTA's main goal is public education. Listed below are public services our association is currently able to offer:
School Presentations
We love visiting schools! When it comes to kids, animals are a seriously exciting topic. Our members are equipped to give a school presentation, complete with props and/or pictures, on a subject of your choice. We can discuss the Veterinary Technician field, the job field of veterinary medicine in general and who occupies it, or we can discuss a specific topic from the field of veterinary medicine or animal science. All presentations can be tailored to specific age groups.
Job Fairs
Job Fairs are exciting for us because we get to share the passion of our career with others! Job Fairs are not only a great way for us to educate the public about what a veterinary technician does, but also how to achieve becoming one! We can also highlight other careers within the veterinary field. Handouts and pictures/display board or power point presentations are also available depending on your specifics.
Pet CPR Demonstration
Every fall HVTA hosts a Pet CPR class available to the public. The HVTA currently has two dog CPR manikins that allow participants to practice their CPR skills during the class. The first half of the class consists of a lecture of basic pet CPR protocol, proper technique and positioning followed by the second half of the class practicing CPR on the provided manikins. Course completion certificates are handed out at the end of each class.

This course is offered annually in the fall. For more information click here
